Write It Down!


They say that the pen is mightier than the sword. Words are powerful, and can control the whole outcome of your life. When it comes to making goals for your life and where you want to go, studies have shown that by writing down your goals, you are more apt to carry them out! A wise man once said to: "write them down and make them plain." When you do this you are much better equipped to run with them. So how do you "write them down and make them plain?"

Here are some simple tips.

Tip One - Decide what it is you want to do.

Do you want to lose weight, write a book, learn to scuba dive? What goal do you have in mind? Write it down.

Tip Two - Break it down into steps.

How much weight do you want to lose? One pound of fat is a deficit of 3500 calories. How can you create that deficit through food intake and exercise? If you want to write a book, how many pages a week or how much time can you carve out? If you want to scuba dive, where are classes being held? Write it down.

Tip Three - Just start.

Many of you know that I recently published a book. I always wanted to write, but it seemed so daunting. However, I decided that I was going to try and set aside 30 minutes a day to jot my thoughts down on paper, and before I knew it, I had a whole book! If you are feeling overwhelmed, just start! Take the plunge. As you begin any endeavor, you will find that as you do it, you will gain momentum and it will become easier as you go along.

Writing down your goals takes them out of your mind and makes them more solid. Take your goals and put them someplace where you can see them. Maybe your nightstand or bathroom mirror, wherever they will jog your memory. As Yvette spoke about, we can let our whole lives pass us by and never make our dreams happen.

Take those hopes and dreams out of your mind and make them real by writing them down and making them plain, and before you know it, they will start showing up in your life!
